Namaste and Namaskaram: A Fun Way to Say Hello
Namaskaram kids. In Bharat (India), we have a special way to say "hi" or show respect.
It's called Namaste or Namaskaram. It's like a magic greeting from long ago .
How to Do It
- Put your two hands together, like clapping but gently.
- Press your palms flat, with thumbs near your chest.
- Bow your head a little forward.
This hand pose is called Anjali Mudra in yoga. It's super easy!
Why We Do It
- We use it to greet friends, family, or even new people.
- In temples, we do the same to pray to God.
- Hindus say it's the best way to focus on God inside us.
- It shows love, respect, and kindness to everyone.
- It helps us feel calm, grow spiritually, and let go of being bossy (that's reducing ego!).
Namaste vs. Namaskaram
- Namaste : For one person. It means "Our souls meet!" We say it in many places in India.
- Namaskaram (or Namaskar) : For a group of people. It shows extra love and respect from the heart.
Both words come from Sanskrit, an old language. They wake up good energy (called Sattva) in our body!
Try today Say "Namaste" with the hand pose to your friend or family. Feel the happy vibes!
