Aarti Magic: Sing, Clap, and Feel the Love to Ishwar (GOD)

Namaste, kids Jai Shri Krishna, Let’s learn about Aarti, a super special way to pray in Hinduism and Jainism.

What Is Aarti?

Aarti is like singing a happy song to God during worship (called Pooja). It’s a way to show love and respect to God, saints, or even special guests. We use:

  • A shiny metal plate (made of silver, bronze, or copper).

  • A lamp with ghee or oil, bright flowers, incense, and camphor.

  • Ringing bells, clapping, and singing devotional songs.

The word Aarti comes from Sanskrit. “Aa” means complete, and “Rati” means love. So, Aarti is all about giving complete love to God.

How Do We Do Aarti?

  • We hold a plate with a glowing lamp.

  • We wave it in front of God’s idol in a circle, from our heart to our forehead, going clockwise.

  • It’s one of the 16 steps in a Pooja!

  • Everyone sings, claps, and feels happy.

Why Is Aarti Awesome?

  • It shows our big love and thanks to God.

  • The lamp’s light feels like God’s power shining on us.

  • It gives us happy energy and helps us feel close to God.

  • It makes our hearts calm and full of joy.

Next time you’re at a temple or home Pooja, watch the Aarti. Maybe clap along or sing, Feel the love in your heart for God.
